Participating in drama is often of great benefit to adults with learning disabilities; drama encourages development of the life skills which are at the core of ActAble’s ethos: Development through drama...creativity, confidence, collaboration

    Our workshops are suitable for groups and charities that would like regular drama classes. We are also happy to tailor a series of workshops, or a one-off workshop on requested topics.

    Throughout our workshops we learn to work together, listen to each other, use our imaginations and explain ourselves as much as possible. More specifically, we use a variety of fun drama games to help to improve understanding of:

  • Feelings and Emotions
  • Facial expression and Vocal tone
  • The world around us

Regular classes are themed to give an added fun element. To ensure everyone is comfortable and to maintain familiarity, each class is structured in the same order, as follows:

  • Physical activities and drama games
  • Mind warm up drama game
  • Vocal activities and warm up
  • Mime activities
  • Improvisation and Devising (possible use of props and costumes too)

    Each group is unique and has different needs, so the description above is only a very basic guide to help you think about what we could offer you.
